In 2015, Reach the Unreached will be praying about, and
beginning to organize collection of resources to improve the conditions of the most inhumane incarceration centers in East Africa. One prison we recently visited help 127 men in a facility designed to hold approximately 30 men.  In addition to the men having to sleep on a hard concrete floor, the building had shuttered-over windows so that there was no ventilation for the inmates.  Upon seeing this in a minimum security, it broke our hearts, and made us want to organize resources to provide bars for the windows so there would be adequate ventilation, and screens to keep out mosquitoes.  After this, provision of bunk beds might be a next step.
This is Bwambo minimum-security prison in Kampala Uganda. It is very overcrowded and does not have adequate ventilation. While the government does what it can to fund its operation, funding falls short, and desired improvements take a very long time to be undertaken.
